Dubai is a city of extremes. In winter it is one of the most pleasant destinations on the planet — warm, sunny, dry, and vibrant. In summer it is one of the harshest: temperatures regularly exceeding 40°C with humidity that makes the heat feel even more brutal. The month you choose to visit can be the difference between a dream holiday and an uncomfortable ordeal spent entirely indoors.

This guide breaks down what to expect in Dubai every single month of the year, so you can plan your visit with confidence.

November to March: The Golden Season

If there is a universally agreed "best time" to visit Dubai, it is this five-month window. Daytime temperatures range from about 24°C in December and January to 34°C in March, with low humidity and blue skies. Evenings cool to a pleasant 14–18°C. The sea temperature stays around 22–26°C, perfect for swimming and water sports.

December is arguably the peak month for tourists — the combination of Christmas and New Year events, cooler temperatures, and world-class shopping festival deals makes it extremely popular. Book accommodation early. January and February are similarly excellent and slightly less crowded.

March marks the transition into spring and sees temperatures starting to climb. It is still comfortable, but by late March the heat is becoming noticeable, especially in the middle of the day.

April to May: Still Manageable, But Getting Warm

April is the last genuinely comfortable outdoor month. Average highs reach 34°C with humidity still relatively low (around 50%). Early morning and late evening remain pleasant for outdoor activities. By May, temperatures push toward 38°C and the combination of heat and rising humidity starts to take its toll on outdoor comfort.

Occasional dust storms (Shamal winds) can reduce visibility and deposit a fine layer of sand over everything. If you visit in April or May, plan outdoor activities for early morning, keep midday for indoor attractions, and hydrate aggressively.

June to September: Summer — Proceed with Caution

Dubai in summer is not for the faint-hearted. July and August average 41°C with coastal humidity regularly reaching 70–90%, making the heat index feel closer to 50°C or above. Most outdoor exertion becomes genuinely dangerous between 10am and 5pm.

That said, many visitors specifically choose summer for the dramatic price drops. Five-star hotels that cost $500 a night in December can be found for under $100. The city's extraordinary indoor offerings — enormous malls, indoor ski slopes, aquariums, world-class restaurants, luxury spas — are all air-conditioned and functioning normally. If your trip is primarily luxury indoor experiences, summer can offer extraordinary value.

October: The Return of Comfort

October marks the gradual transition back to civilised temperatures. Highs drop from summer peaks to around 34°C, and the intense humidity begins to ease. By mid-October, outdoor dining and beach walks return to comfort. October is a transitional month — not as perfect as November but a significant improvement on September.
